Bangkok’s corner

Two days in Bangkok – Thailand with friends and litte sister, Oct 2013.

Bangkok is a city that pulses with energy—colorful, chaotic, and full of surprises around every corner. Recently, I had the chance to spend two unforgettable days in Thailand’s capital with a group of close friends I met at quierochat online and my little sister in tow. From street food adventures to golden temples and shopping sprees, our quick getaway was packed with laughter, bonding, and the kind of memories that only come from travel.
Our first day in Bangkok started bright and early with a visit to the iconic Grand Palace. Even my little sister, who’s usually more interested in cartoons than culture, was impressed by the intricate architecture and shimmering golden details. Just a short walk away, we explored Wat Pho, home to the enormous reclining Buddha and one of the oldest temples in the city.

After soaking in the history, we cooled off with coconut ice cream and took a tuk-tuk ride through the bustling city streets—an experience that made all of us laugh and scream in equal measure! For lunch, we stopped at a street-side vendor near Siam Square, where we devoured pad thai, mango sticky rice, and crispy spring rolls. It was affordable, delicious, and full of local flavor.

Our last night in Bangkok called for something memorable, so we dressed up and headed to one of the city’s famous rooftop bars: Vertigo at Banyan Tree Hotel. With panoramic views of the glittering skyline, we toasted to friendship, family, and spontaneous travel. My sister got a mocktail and loved feeling like one of the grown-ups, while we all soaked in the city lights one last time.
